ESYS members are specialists with a proven scientific background in a range of disciplines. They contribute on a voluntary basis to the strategic direction of ESYS and to the development of its content. More than 160 energy specialists from university, non-university and industrial research are currently members of ESYS.

Alongside scientific expertise, ESYS relies on incorporating perspectives from industry, politics and organised civil society. People in the ESYS network are representatives of organisations from society, industry and politics who contribute to the development of ESYS content but do not have a scientific focus. The ESYS Directorate appoints ESYS members and people in the ESYS network for a term of three years. Reappointment is possible without limit.

Working Group
Expert for

In the ESYS — Energiesysteme der Zukunft initiative, energy experts from academia and corporate research departments work in interdisciplinary working groups to develop ideas and options for action for implementing a secure, affordable and sustainable energy supply. ESYS is a joint initiative of acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering (lead), the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Union of German Academies of Sciences and Humanities. ESYS was launched in April 2013 is and funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
