Through exchange in workshops and specialist discussions, ESYS Working Groups also incorporate the practical knowledge of energy policy actors. To this end, the WGs invite 10 to 15 experts from academia, politics, industry and civil society organisations to discuss interim results with them.

In the ESYS — Energiesysteme der Zukunft initiative, energy experts from academia and corporate research departments work in interdisciplinary working groups to develop ideas and options for action for implementing a secure, affordable and sustainable energy supply. ESYS is a joint initiative of acatech – National Academy of Science and Engineering (lead), the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Union of German Academies of Sciences and Humanities. ESYS was launched in April 2013 is and funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space.
