Together with the Royal Society and the Institute for Transformative Sustainability Research (IASS Potsdam), ESYS organised a two-day workshop on the international potential of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU). According to energy experts, CCU technology can contribute to the achievement of climate goals: CO2 is captured and used to replace oil and gas.
In the workshop, German and British scientists gave an overview of the state of research and explained how CCU technology is evaluated in their countries. Business representatives, on the other hand, showed how CO2 could be used to manufacture various products. Among the initiators were Robert Schlögl (Max Planck Society), Reinhard F. Hüttl (GFZ Potsdam), Ortwin Renn (IASS Potsdam) and Graham Hutchings (Cardiff Catalysis Institute & Royal Society).
