About

Volker Kienzlen studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and the University of Colorado (CU). After his graduation he worked for the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in the field of hydrogen technology. As a staff member of Stuttgart`s municipal administration he was responsible for energy efficiency in the cities‘ 2`000 facilities. Since 2006 he works as managing director of the Climate Protection and Energy Agency of the state of Baden-Württemberg. KEA-BW is responsible for all questions concerning climate protection in Baden-Württemberg.

The state energy agency is impartial and competent and covers the fields energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energies. KEA-BW informs, motivates and supports stakeholders in cities and towns concerning concrete projects but as well concerning strategical questions. Associations, multiplier and applicants are key target groups. As a networker in the field of climate protection KEA-BW supports policymakers, administrations trade and crafts as well as the social sector.

Volker Kienzlen is currently involved in the ESYS project in the working group "Expansion of Photovoltaics and Wind Energy".
